There are many ways that you can be directly involved in supporting
the DARE TO CARE FOOD BANK's mission of feeding the hungry:
- Sort food in the DARE TO CARE FOOD BANK warehouse (need scheduled groups of 8-22).
- Bread Truck Drivers to pick up bread and pastries from local grocery stores. No special license required to drive a small panel truck-one day a week-mornings (3-4 hours). No heavy lifting required!
- Receptionist- Multi-task position to answer a busy phone and direct food clients to our distribution centers. 3-4 hour shifts, one day a week, morning or afternoon.
- Administrative Support- Such as filing, mailings and data entry.
- Help with Special Events throughout the year.
- Check Out Hunger Program. While you are shopping at Kroger, you can replenish the “Check Out Hunger” boards at each check-out lane. This is an ongoing program, and will only take a few minutes a week.
- Kroger Fall Food Drive. We need volunteers to pass out flyers the first three weekends in November at all area Kroger stores. This food drive is crucial to our winter food supply. It’s a great opportunity for middle and high school students to get 3-4 hours a day of community service.
- Serve meals at our 14 Kids Cafe sites.
