Officers Delivering Food To Homebound Seniors
A partnership of Louisville Metro Police, Dare To Care Food
Bank & Yum! Brands Foundation
The Dare To Care Food Bank supplies the food and delivers it to
the district site on a pre-approved schedule. Four times a year,
every fourth month (March-June-September-December) USDA/TEFAP
Commodities are added to the Emergency Food, resulting in approximately
3-4 boxes of food per person, being delivered to the district site.
All food items are shelf stable and boxes of varying size will
be used. The size and weight of the boxes will be consistent with
the ability to fit into the trunk of a car and not too heavy for
a senior citizen to move about, usually 20 pounds in weight. The
district officers deliver the boxes, on their internal schedule.
Each district, in the initial phase is asked to limit its participants
to a total of fifteen (15) people. The officers of that district
choose the applicants for participation. Applications are
forwarded to Dare To Care Food Bank for final processing.
Refer all inquiries to their local police station or sub-station.
This program is a part of the Louisville Metro Area only. Un-incorporated
municipalities are addressing this matter on an independent basis,
please contact them for further information.
